How do I create a custom matrix?

How to build a selectable x and y axis grid and use it in a custom field

Contents

1. Introduction & Context

A custom matrix provides the ability to display a grid to select from, with an x and y axis.

Please note: This is not a Risk Matrix, and it can only be used within a custom field.

Creating a custom matrix takes two steps:

  1. Create the baseline matrix.
  2. Create the custom field with the type Custom Matrix and select the matrix you created.

2. Key Features & Functions

  • Selectable grid: users pick a cell from an x and y axis grid.
  • Highly configurable: you control the size, labels, font, colours, and what shows in the header, cells, and selected "pill".
  • Fixed size after creation: the number of columns and rows cannot be changed once the matrix has been created (maximum 10 each).
  • Used in a custom field: a custom matrix only appears once assigned to a custom field of the type Custom Matrix.

3. Requirements

  • Access to the Admin section, specifically Custom Matrices and Custom Fields.

4. Step-by-Step Guide
